IT Service provider offers automated software updates via Software as a Service (SaaS) for remote notebook users

Filderstadt, GER | Tuesday, July 21, 2009 — The Stadtentwässerungsbetriebe Köln AöR (Cologne City Drainage Operations – StEB) in Germany has announced that it is using the SaaS-based software update service from Teraport to keep applications, operating systems and anti-virus software updated on more than 150 notebooks which rarely connect to the corporate network.

Keeping these important IT assets updated is a major challenge for the IT team at StEB, as they cannot use conventional means of software deployment or patch management. Historically, the organization had no choice but to update each machine manually – a highly laborious and ineffective solution.
